Welcome to the Summer 2019 newsletter. I am truly privileged to begin my two-year term as editor of the newsletter and chair of the CCAS Communications Committee. As an editor, I am proud to represent a great team that works hard to continuously update the website and provide new educational content.
I would like to recognize Dr. Stephanie Grant (Associate Editor) for her continuous help for the newsletter and overseeing the questions of the week and poll of the month. And thank you to the question writers Drs. Rania Abbasi, Laura Diaz-Berenstain, Andrew Matisoff, Pablo Motta, as well as Drs. Rania Abbasi and Nelson Burbano who are working on increasing our content for echocardiography tutorials on the website.
Updates:
-
Partnership with CHiP Network: Every six months CCAS provides a summary of three articles to the network distributed to their email. Please read the summaries by Drs. Laura Downey, Annelisa Cossu, and Sana Ullah in this newsletter and contact us if you wish to contribute.
-
Social Media: CCAS now has Twitter and Facebook accounts. We encourage you to follow CCAS and get together on social media. Please read the excellent tutorial written by Dr. Sean Barnes if you wish to get started on social media!

Interesting Cases: Coming soon!
Many of us had the opportunity to attend the 2019 CCAS Annual Meeting in Houston and witnessed the fantastic program by program chair Dr. Kirsten Odegard and co-chairs Drs. James Spaeth and Susan Nicholson. For those who were unable to attend, Drs. Annelisa Cossu, Richard Hubbard, Nischal Gautam and Renee Olinda Gaver have written extensive reviews of the meeting in this newsletter.
In addition, a new item in the newsletter is a story of our past CCAS presidents. This will give us the chance to get to know our leaders in the field, their training pathways and stories. Starting chronologically, Dr. Lisa Wise-Faberowski has written a piece titled “Serendipity” about the first CCAS president, Dr. Dean Andropoulos.
Enjoy the newsletter and do not hesitate to contact any member of the communications committee with new ideas for our newsletter or website.
Have a great summer!
