As highlighted by Dr. Wanda Miller-Hance in the President’s Message, this past year was full of accomplishments despite the pandemic and social distancing. As I write my last editor message for the newsletter, I am proud of all the work the members of the Communications Committee have accomplished in the past few years providing a new website and great educational content to our members.

I would like to recognize Dr. Stephanie Grant for all her help and congratulate her as she becomes the next Editor of the Newsletter and Chair of the Communications Committee. I would like to thank the question writers Drs. Rania Abbasi, Laura Diaz-Berenstain, Andrew Matisoff, and Pablo Motta for their continuous dedication.

I am proud to announce the upcoming Associate Editor and new members of the Education Initiative Team who will serve a two-year term starting March 2021:

  • Associate Editor - Dr. Anne Elisa Cossu
  • Education Initiative Team - Drs. Destiny Chau, Michael Evans, Sana Ullah and Chinwe Unegbu

I thank all of the active and talented CCAS members who applied for these leadership positions. All members are invited to contribute to the content of the website and participate in the initiatives of the Communications Committee.

The contributions to this newsletter include:

  • Announcement of the Upcoming CCAS Virtual 2021 Annual Meeting: This will be a great meeting in March.  The fantastic program is presented to us by the Program Chair Dr. Susan Nicolson and Co-Chairs Drs. Greg Latham and David Vener and Program Shadow Dr. Jamie McElrath Schwartz. Looking forward to “see” many of you.
  • Wellness: A great timely piece by Dr. Nina Guzzetta.
  • Introduction to Our Newly Formed Safety and Quality Improvement Committee: Dr. Morgan Brown introduces the mission of the Safety and Quality Committee and its members.
  • Interesting Case: A great case discussion by Drs. Lori Riegger and Mark Dziuba presenting a patient with Williams Syndrome in the catheterization laboratory.
  • Partnership with ChiP Network: Three highlighted articles summarized by Drs. Anne Elisa Cossu, Venugopal Amula, and Rajeev Wadia. If you wish to contribute to the next series of articles in the Spring newsletter, please contact Dr. Rania Abbasi.

Enjoy the newsletter and do not hesitate to contact any member of the Communications Committee with new ideas for our newsletter or website.

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
