It has been a privilege to serve on the CCAS Board of Directors for the past 4 years. However, I have been involved with the CCAS for much longer than this, initially starting the Newsletter and then helping with the development of the CCAS website and educational content. These roles are now being done by wonderful colleagues and friends who are doing an excellent job. I have been a member of the CCAS/STS Database committee since 2009. I have enjoyed attending, speaking and moderating at the CCAS Annual Meeting and was the Program Chair for the 2016 CCAS Annual Meeting in Colorado.

I have been a member of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society since it was organized over a decade ago and have regularly attended the yearly educational meeting.  I am excited about the continued growth of the society and the impact it has on the perioperative care of patients with congenital heart disease.

I have been an active member of Wake Up Safe, a patient safety organization within the SPA.  The Department of Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center was a founding member of this organization, and I was an active participant in the development of the database of adverse events. I have also been a speaker at educational sessions which have focused on the development of quality improvement projects by member institutions.

I have been involved with the CCAS since its inception.  I have served for the past 10 years as the Chair of the Database Committee and have served as the CCAS representative in this capacity to the Society of Thoracic Surgery’s Congenital Heart Database Committee, the Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Care Consortium (PC4) and to the Multi-Societal Database Committee.  In addition, I have been an organizing member on the CCAS’s behalf to the World Congress for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (2021) and present annually at the STS Advances in Quality and Outcomes (Database) meeting.  I also serve on the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia’s Medical Informatics and SPACIES committees.
