I was a member of the CCAS Organizing Committee in 2005-06, I then served as Treasurer and subsequently as Vice President.

I was the CCAS Annual Meeting Program Chairman in 2008 and have been a member of the Program Committee for each of the annual CCAS Programs at the SPA Meeting. I chaired the Working Committee that established training guidelines for Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowships which where subsequently published in A&A. In 2010 I organized the CCAS Task Force to develop a Consensus Statement for use rFVIIa in pediatric cardiac surgery.

CCAS involvement
I’ve been a practicing pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist since the completion of my fellowship at the end of 1994. My colleagues and I were delighted when we heard about the formation of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society. I immediately joined the CCAS in February of 2006 and have attended all three of the CCAS annual meetings. At the 2009 annual meeting, I lectured on pediatric coagulation monitoring, a topic that is integral to my research interests. In 2010, I served as moderator for the session entitled “Safe Sweets? Glucose Management in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery”. Currently, I am involved in the CCAS task force regarding the use of recombinant activated factor VII in the pediatric cardiac setting. My goal is to deepen my involvement in the CCAS and to promote excellence in the practice of pediatric cardiac anesthesia.

Over the years I had opportunities to speak about pediatric cardiac anesthesia at several other national and regional conferences including the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist Annual Meeting, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia Winter Meeting and the Southeast Pediatric Cardiovascular Society Annual Meeting. In December 2010, I will be lecturing at the International Conference of the Pediatric Intensive Care Society Meeting.
