I’ve been a practicing pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist since the completion of my fellowship at the end of 1994. My colleagues and I were delighted when we heard about the formation of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society. I immediately joined the CCAS in February of 2006 and have attended all three of the CCAS annual meetings. At the 2009 annual meeting, I lectured on pediatric coagulation monitoring, a topic that is integral to my research interests. In 2010, I served as moderator for the session entitled “Safe Sweets? Glucose Management in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery”. Currently, I am involved in the CCAS task force regarding the use of recombinant activated factor VII in the pediatric cardiac setting. My goal is to deepen my involvement in the CCAS and to promote excellence in the practice of pediatric cardiac anesthesia.Involvement with other anesthesia organizations
Over the years I had opportunities to speak about pediatric cardiac anesthesia at several other national and regional conferences including the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist Annual Meeting, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia Winter Meeting and the Southeast Pediatric Cardiovascular Society Annual Meeting. In December 2010, I will be lecturing at the International Conference of the Pediatric Intensive Care Society Meeting.
